Milestone reached as Memorial administers 10,000th COVID-19 vaccine

10,000 doses!
The hardworking staff at Memorial Medical Center administered our 10,000th dose of COVID-19 vaccine today, marking a major moment in an effort that begin two months ago. Victoria Grasso, DO, Hospitalist Medical Director at MMC, received the dose, completing her Pfizer vaccine two-shot series.
"I'm extremely excited and relieved to be vaccinated now, since I work with COVID patients every day," Dr. Grasso said. “This is a momentous occasion for MMC and gives me a great sense that we're moving in the right direction as a community."
Dr. Grasso is among the 80 percent of Memorial staff and providers who have been vaccinated.
"We are grateful for the hard work and dedication of our staff in playing their parts in reaching this milestone," said MMC Chief Nursing Officer Caryn Iverson. "We look forward to administering even more doses as we move forward and put this pandemic behind us."
A reminder that the best way for the public to find information as to when and where the COVID-19 vaccine will be available is to register and stay connected with the New Mexico Department of Health.
***Register for a vaccine through the Department of Health: cvvaccine.nmhealth.org ***
The New Mexico Department of Health has released its distribution plan for Phases 1B, 1C, and 2 for the COVID-19 vaccine. That plan is available here: http://ow.ly/VET750D3TSv
Memorial is not currently vaccinating the general public nor are we a site through the state registration program at this time. We continue to vaccine community healthcare workers, first responders, essential workers and other eligible individuals as directed by CDC and state guidelines.
We encourage everyone to be a hero and get vaccinated once the vaccine is more widely available to our community members.
