DAISY and BEE Award Nominations
The DAISY Award
We are proud to partner with The DAISY Foundation to honor the compassionate care of our extraordinary nurses throughout the year.
DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The DAISY Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. The Foundation was formed in January 2000, by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died at age 33 of complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). The DAISY Award, presented in collaboration with The American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE), is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize the super-human efforts nurses do every day all over the country. Nurses receive the DAISY Award for their clinical skills, compassionate care, exemplary service, and continued commitment to excellence.

The BEE Award
Just like a DAISY would not be able to grow without the help of the BEE, our nurses could not do what they do for our patients without the outstanding teamwork of other healthcare professionals.
Memorial Medical Center proudly recognizes support personnel alongside nurses through a similar honor called the BEE Award (Being Excellent Every Day). Anyone at MMC or any outpatient clinic who supports patient care — such as medical assistants, patient care technicians, transportation aides, observation staff, unit assistants, unit clerks, housekeepers, nursing assistants or others — can be nominated for the BEE Award. Nominations can be submitted by patients, providers, families and colleagues. Recipients will be chosen by a committee at Memorial Medical Center and will be honored with the BEE Award throughout the year.
