Memorial, community celebrate legacy of Rev. Dr. Margaret Short upon retirement
May 19, 2021

Memorial Medical Center hosted the community on May 19, 2021, to celebrate the Rev. Dr. Margaret Short, Anglican Priest Chaplain and Pastoral Counselor at Memorial. Rev. Dr. Short is retiring from her role at Memorial this week after blessing Memorial with her uplifting presence for 24 years.
Through her dedication and perseverance, thousands of patients, staff and providers found spiritual strength during both celebratory and difficult times. Rev. Dr. Short developed a vast network of clergy to serve the needs of our community through strength and perseverance – this dedication to others is her true legacy.
For these reasons, the legacy of Rev. Dr. Short will be forever displayed at the entrance of the Memorial Chapel for all to see and appreciate.
Among those on hand to celebrate Rev. Dr. Short were Las Cruces Mayor Ken Miyagishima, Dona Ana County Manager Fernando Macias, a representative from the office of Congresswoman Yvette Herrell, and leaders of our community’s spiritual community. Memorial CEO John Harris and Chief Medical Officer Dolores Gomez also spoke about Rev. Dr. Short’s innumerable impacts and the powerful convergence of medical and spiritual care.
Ministers of faith are an essential part of the health care team at Memorial, and we are fortunate to call them friends and partners.
