Memorial Medical Center Breaks Ground on Urgent Care Center in Anthony
June 16, 2023
(ANTHONY, NM – June 16, 2023) – Memorial Medical Center today broke ground on a new urgent care facility in Anthony, New Mexico, as part of a visionary City of Anthony project to revitalize the former Dos Lagos Golf Course into a vibrant health and wellness multi-generational community center.
When completed, this 3,300-square-foot clinic will feature six exam rooms as well as X-ray imaging and lab capabilities. The closest New Mexico urgent care facility for Anthony area residents is currently in Las Cruces, approximately 26 miles (33 minutes) north of the city. For six years now, Memorial has served the Anthony community with a family medicine clinic that now also offers cardiology services.
“We are excited to expand our operations in Anthony with the construction of a new urgent care facility, not only to keep New Mexicans in New Mexico for healthcare, but also for the part it plays in developing a center of amenities and services for this great community,” said John Harris, CEO of Memorial Medical Center. “Residents of Anthony and its surrounding southern Doña Ana County communities should not have to leave their own state to receive quality and timely care.”
“As an institution that has been providing quality care to Southern New Mexico for more than 70 years, Memorial Medical Center was the perfect partner to operate this urgent care clinic,” said Interim City Manager Mario Infante. “We very much look forward to our residents being able to receive urgent care closer to home and working with Memorial on future opportunities.”
State funding for the Dos Lagos project was largely secured through the leadership, guidance and hard work of State Rep. Doreen Gallegos, who continues to represent this region with the best interest of its citizens at heart.
“We are proud to be partnering with the leadership of the City of Anthony, Wilson & Company Engineers & Architects, as well as state legislators like Doreen Gallegos, and we’re excited for the opportunities ahead for the City of Anthony,” said Harris. “The vision that this group has collaboratively crafted will result in improved health and prosperity for Southern New Mexico for years to come.”
When fully constructed, the Dos Lagos project will provide the opportunity for additional housing for the community, medical industry workforce development, diversified permanent job creation, local emergency healthcare services, and spur economic development within the city.
