Memorial Medical Center installs leading-edge 512-slice CT
March 13, 2025

Memorial Medical Center’s Imaging Services capabilities continue to step into the future with the installation of a 512-slice GE Revolution Apex computed tomography (CT) scanning machine at the hospital’s main campus. The first patients were scanned with the new machine on Monday, March 10th.
This cutting-edge scanner allows caregivers to obtain quicker and more accurate diagnostic imaging and improve outcomes for patients. CT scans are used to diagnose an array of injuries and diseases, including heart disease, stroke, cancer, bone fractures, and blood clots. The newly installed machine at MMC represents a $2.7 million investment and is one of the fastest and most powerful units in the industry.
“At Memorial Medical Center, we are dedicated to providing the highest standard of patient care and introducing advanced technologies to our community,” said Dennis Knox, CEO of Memorial Medical Center. “The addition of the new 512-slice CT Scanner, with its multidimensional capabilities, will offer patients faster, more accurate, and high-quality diagnostic imaging, ultimately enhancing diagnosis and treatment outcomes.”
With the new CT scanner, Memorial is able to decrease radiation doses received by patients, improve image quality, increase efficiency by decreasing total time to complete studies and offer new types of scans to improve diagnosis and treatment. Capabilities will also soon include advanced cardiac imaging.
Patients with claustrophobic tendencies may also benefit from the larger opening, which will ease anxiety during the exam. Along with the larger bore size, the new CT machine also boasts a scanner four times larger than the scanner on its predecessor.
